This is a case of an acute possible bladder infection the strange thing  being that there is no pain in the urethra before during or after while urinating and there is profuse urination rather than scanty although a lot less in the night. There is a relief from the constant burning pain and pressure straight after urination but it doesn't last long. All the remedies I looked up in the MM for this condition seemed to have pain during and after urination and also scanty urination which is why I am stuck for an acute remedy. I did prescribe Apis 30 3 x a day as a best fittum for 3-4 days but am also wondering about his  possible constitutional remedy which I have given him in the past - Phosphorus which he last had last May and didn't return to me after so I presume he was OK.

Thanks for looking. If you have any ideas that I can research please let me know. Wife is taking him off to the doctors at the end of the week for sleeping tablets so he can get a good nights sleep and rest the bladder!!!!

20th January 2014

I haven’t seen this man for about a year. He presented as still very round with a ruddy complexion, picture of health and I could smell cigar smoke. His worried wife was with him. He spoke animatedly as usual but from what he says he could be seriously depressed. The last few months he has been building a garage from which to run vehicle MOT testing. The building is finished and they have just opened for business last week.

The problem is a “bladder water infection. I am peeing a lot in the night and then I can’t get back to sleep. I have burning and pressure but it doesn’t hurt to pee. It started a week last Saturday when I was due to start tests after training as a nominated tester. Yes I did pass OK but it was a trauma to have to learn things after so long and have exams.”

When his urine was tested at the doctors in a jar they bought themselves it shows high white cells and protein but another sample taken the same day in a sterile container and sent to the hospital lab showed nothing untoward. He has had recent blood tests where his liver function and 2 others were borderline. He will try to get a printout. Colour of urine is greenish but he is taking Vit B complex !!

“My stool is not great – sometimes solid and sometimes loose. Yes this has been since the antibiotics the doctor gave me for this. After eating I need to go to the toilet. (stool)”

“I’ve been having pain in my chest going into the left arm. I got an appointment on Thursday at a rapid access clinic for an ECG and  stress treadmill test. The ECG at the doctors was fine. My BP is good.”

“Today I have a banging headache – it feels like I have 5 tons on the front of my head and ½ that amount at the top.”

“If I exert myself I feel dizzy. I have built all the buildings for the new business which is hard work”

Thirstless

Busy and restless- can’t sit still.

Tongue – red cleanish , deep crevice down the middle

“I am finding that my arms go weak when I am lifting things and this is upsetting me”

“I feel like I am going to die. I feel like my body is packing up. It would be the best solution to get rid of this pain and stress (from work) but I couldn’t do it to them.(Family) I want to be there for them. The only relief would be to die.”

“I feel I am not able to support (financially) my wife and family. (Wife said no one else feels this)  I need to sell our cottage in Yorkshire as I am now working all Saturday and need to be at work on Monday morning.”

“I was very tearful at my Auntie’s funeral on Friday which is not like me at funerals”

“The only time I feel better is after a shower in the morning and evening. I don’t like to have a bath because I would be sitting in my own muck as I get so dirty and oily with my work.”

From wife in an email :- P needs to feel in control. He fights it and of course now we are in a partnership this tricky particularly as J also likes to be in control and they are both used to being their own boss. Also P bottles things up. . . and eventually he blows. He can't blow with J  there's too much as stake and anyway he's an almost life long friend.

I would like a doctor to rule out interstitial cystitis.  It causes the lining of the bladder to become inflamed or scarred, or waste away.  It causes pain when the bladder begins to fill, which goes away after urination.  There is no pain associated with urination.  This would at least give you some direction miasmatically.  It would probably be a different group of remedies than an acute bladder infection.

Aside from a remedy, if it is ISC, he should be taking a variety of anti-inflammatory supplements - Astaxanthin, Resveratol, R-alpha lipoic acid, etc.

Shirley - Great minds think alike!!! I love your reply as I mentioned this possibility to him - but also said I have only known of it in women!!  I personally thought I had a very mild case of it a few years ago and researched to find herbal Scottish Heather MM fit the symptoms. I couldn't track down a tincture so got the unproved Calluna (Scottish Heather)from Helios in the lowest potency which was 18C!!! 1 dose and all my symptoms went. I have taken it since on occasions and it has always worked for me. I actually gave him a dose while he was sitting with me!!

Today according to his wife his "water problems" are no different but the gurgling in his stomach (not mentioned) was!!! I gave him 4 days supply of Apis30 to try at 3 x a day.

Hello,

I don't think it will make any remarkable difference in choice of medicine if ITC is the case or some thing else. Here i want to say something about taking the case in a proper chronological order, as the patient is an aged one, you most certainly are not going to get a proper antimiasmatic remedy that will cover all his symptoms as mixed miasm is usually the case and the problem you are treating now i think is an acute one, now if you take each & every symptoms occurrence date than you can easily differentiate his acute disease from his chronic constitution and it will ultimately gonna help you to decide an remedy for his present complaint without being confused with chronic mixed miasmatic symptoms. Here i am not saying that you cannot get a remedy that will not only cover the acute symptom but also the whole person but then you have to take the whole case properly to treat it miasmatically, esp. history.

Tho i don't like that much dosing but i think you have experience to back it up, who don't want his/her patient to be cured as soon as possible.

I have seen this patient about 4 times  in the past and the first time I did take a full history and I have given him Phos as a constitutional Rx which has worked very well in the past for him . I'm afraid he is one of those men who comes now and again to me when his wife insists. (I have treated the extended family for years) .

This is an acute which started about a fortnight ago and what I am looking for are rubrics or a remedy which has his acute symptoms in which is what I am asking for help with. You can from my rep what rubrics I took but I can't fnd a remedy which covers the ITC type symptoms
