Hi everyone. I’ve just joined your forum and was wondering if someone could point me in the right direction. I’ve been under the treatment of a homeopathic doctor who I’ve seen twice in the last 3 years. Unfortunately my regular Dr is currently having an operation and is uncontactable. Bit of background… I suffered from red welting blotches on my face every spring & summer for 5 years, which would last the whole summer and disappear in the autumn. I very much felt it was brought on by the sunshine. I didn’t seek any conventional treatment for this but in the 5th year then booked an appointment with my homeopathic dr and was prescribed Lachesis 6C which cleared it up within 5 days and I’ve not had any problems with it since. This was 4 years ago. About 18 months later I started with occasional symptoms of peri-menopause, most notably with ocular migraines (for about 30 minutes no pain and no headache), a feeling of, but not actually going cross-eyed for 10-20 seconds, dizziness and a jet lag feeling. A friend recommended Sepia 1M, every 3 or 4 days for about 7-8 doses. This worked well, with the fogginess lifting after the 7th remedy. About 5 months later the symptoms returned so I took 1 more single 1M of Sepia and again the symptoms cleared for about 4 months. Another single 1M sepia saw the symptoms disappear for a further 4 months but return. I then booked to see my Dr again and was prescribed Lachesis 6C again (2x daily for 6-7 days) This cleared the symptoms again but they returned after a couple of cycles. A phone consult and it was suggested to repeat the dose, which I did but again the symptoms returned after a couple of months. Last month I took 5 days, 2x daily of Lachesis 6C again, symptoms gone for 1 month but back again. I’m getting a bit desperate as to what to do now. I’m mindful that both Sepia and Lachesis are powerful remedies but wonder if I’m just not taking enough as the symptoms do go but keep returning. Any help would be much appreciated. Many Thanks everyone.

This appears to be a situation where the underlying cause of your conditions is not being cured. Homoeopathy often sees this pattern of constantly returning symptoms in the same form to be a miasmatic issue. It may be necessary to choose a remedy that covers the whole state rather than alternating between two remedies. This kind of ‘zig zagging’ can be useful for some patients, but in the end what I always see is that a more appropriate remedy needs to be found that covers the entire core state.

I have to wonder why the homoeopath doesn’t give a higher dose of Lachesis though. 6c is extremely low, I wouldn’t often expect to see cure constitutionally with such a low potency.

You definitely need to have someone reassess the case. There is a pattern here, and there will be a central connecting feature. Someone needs to find it and direct a remedy there.
