I have been taking homeopathic remedies for over five years to treat symptoms associated with: constipation, brain fog, tiredness and other related symptoms resulting from gut dysbiosis.
I have been working with a qualified homeopath who has over 25 years experience and more recently a Naturopath to treat the gut dysbiosis symptoms.
I have noted over time when I am given the correct remedy, it stops working after 4 – 6 weeks instead of a longer period of time.
In doing some research I came across the following article from a homeopath online who wrote:
“When the problem is too many homeopathic remedy energies have been given, the person will have some of the remedy energies in their field and it will be hard to perceive an accurate case. Then it is especially important to stop all remedies and let the person return to a more natural expression. If the person is very sensitive this can sometimes take from up to 6 months to a year. If they are not as sensitive they may show a more original expression of dis-ease after 2 or 3 months. Every case is different and you must use your best judgement to see what the client is reporting.”
My question is: Could it be possible, according to the article that having used homeopathic remedies for so long that my body has accumulated the previous remedies used over the years and that is why the healing only lasts 4 – 6 weeks instead of longer?
I’m interested to know whether I should follow the advice above and stop all remedies to allow my body to return to its natural expression?
Obviously I will discuss this matter with my homeopath, but for now I’m interested to learn about other opinions.

How exactly are you remedies given to you? Potency, dosage size and frequency of dosing all play very important roles in managing and curing cases long term.
How do you know you are being given the correct remedy? What signs exactly do you see which clearly show this (reactions etc)?
5 years without cure seems a very poor outcome to me as a classical homoeopath. I would say 4-6 weeks improvement only also suggests you have never been given an appropriate constitutional remedy.
It is not possible for remedies to remain within the body in an accumulated mass. If a remedy has an effect on you, it overwrites any previous ones, and if there is no significant (constitutional or miasmatic) improvement then your natural state will simply reassert itself.
What may happen though, is if the remedies being given are simply palliating, or are suppressing the symptoms instead of addressing the underlying core state, then you may see your chronic disease becoming more difficult to cure. Ongoing palliation can actually make you sicker, and make your case harder to solve. This is because as each natural outlet is blocked, the vital force will find new ones, and these are usually in more serious locations, or it is forced to add new symptoms to the original complaints to continue your survival.

Thanks for your reply.
My remedies are given to my via my homeopath in pilules. I have used a number of constitutional remedies over time ranging from: Carcinosin, Lycopodium and Sulphur usually in 1M potency and increasing to 10M.
My homeopath has 30 years of experience and teaches at the local college, so I would like to think she is prescribing the right remedies. The remedies help my symptoms while taking them i.e. constipation, brain fog and tiredness, yet after 6 weeks they seem to lose their effect, particularly in relation to my bowels. This is the first area I notice it. They become sluggish after this time.
It is only in the past 6 months while working with a naturopath to treat the underlying cause of the above symptoms, i.e. SIBO and gut dysbiosis that I am beginning to see the benefits of using the homeopathic remedies alongside the naturopathic treatment.
I trust that makes a little more sense.
