Hello,

How can I approach Laryngeal Paralysis for my 12 year old beauceron?  What do I start with and in which dosage?  Causticum is mentioned very often for this issue but there are other remedies as well. I am unsure what to start her with and how to progress from there.

She breathe a little heavily at times but there is no cough, mucus or blood.  Hoarseness is pronounced.

She is being treated with acupuncture.

Thank you.

Chris

Hi Chris,

The quick version is: You write down all the symptoms you can glean, then the modalities if there any (eg. better or worse from warmth, cold, noise, etc, then the general characteristics -eg., fears, activity level, desires, personality traits etc..  Then you consider possible etiologies, such as vaccination, pregnancies, etc, then you look all that up in a repertory and see which remedies cover the most symptoms. Then you then read the materia medica of each remedy and see which one fits best. You start with a low potency and work your way up.  Then you assess what changes have or have not taken place to decide how to proceed. It gets more complicated after that. It’s best if you find a homeopathic vet to do this.

ALSO, you need to consider that the acupuncture may interfere with the remedy, so you have to decide which way you want to go.
